It ain’t easy being green
When I was growing up my worst fear was that I would turn out like everybody else. I would rather die than conform.
So in 1982 I went out and bought some hair dye and a spiked bracelet and I became a New Wave/Punk Rock freak.
I smoked cigarettes, hung out at the mall, and listened to some great music with my friends.

It was the 1980s, man, and I was having a good time.
But, like many of my undertakings, I rode the 80s wave a little too far. Eventually all that stuff caught up with me in a bad way.
Then in 1989 the movie Drugstore Cowboy came out. In the movie the main character decides to give up his life of crime and just be a normal guy with a job and a nice little place to live. That looked so good to me.

So I set out to be a normal guy. I wanted to dress normal and have a normal, stable life like everybody else with a car, a job, an apartment, and a girlfriend.

Well, like all of my experiences, after flipping from one extreme to the other I finally found a middle ground. The truth is I am just like everybody else but I am also a really weird. Go figure!
So in that spirit I did this painting. You can see some more of my paintings here.

And here’s some DEVO for you to enjoy.
